Swiss Arena Kloten
At home games at the Swiss Arena, there were repeated intelligibility issues with both the announcer and the recorded audio elements. Furthermore, the audio quality of advertising did not always meet expectations, resulting in recurring feedback from sponsors.
Detailed Analysis and Targeted Optimization
As part of our technical planning mandate, we conducted a comprehensive inventory of the aging audio and video technology. During several games, we directly observed the experienced crew in the control room and analyzed the use of the existing technology.
As part of our technical planning mandate, we conducted a comprehensive inventory of the aging audio and video technology. During several games, we directly observed the experienced crew in the control room and analyzed the use of the existing technology.

We paid particular attention to the control room, which includes the media server, video mixer, controller, audio mixing console (Dante), monitors, and accessories. Based on our findings, we developed a step-by-step modernization strategy, prioritized by urgency.
In addition, we conducted comprehensive acoustic measurements at a total of 40 locations throughout the stadium outside of match days. The measurement results show that the Speech Transmission Index (STI) – an indicator of speech intelligibility – meets the requirements in many locations. Our visualization allowed us to specifically identify where reorienting the existing speakers in combination with additional speakers could significantly improve the acoustics.
